Late Night, Early Morning - EARTHQUAKE!

Diane's birthday was last Tuesday and since school started last week we didn't really get to celebrate it at all. So, Saturday night we went into Tokyo and ate dinner. We were going to go to a bar in Tokyo but dinner finished a lot earlier than we expected so instead we went back to our area (about 20 mins on the rapid train.) When we got back to our area, Arwen and Diane took me to the foreigners bar - a lot of foreigners and not many Japanese people. We were there for about an hour and then we moved to the next bar. It was not really like anything in the US, there weren't very many people there at all. Anyway, we decided to play darts, we played 3 games. I won once - but then again I wasn't drinking like everyone else. I had already had 2 beers and that was enough for me. After we played darts for awhile, we ended up going to a Karaoke place. It wasn't a bar like we have in the US that will have a Karaoke night once a week. It was a Karaoke facility. That is all they had there - every night. You go in you rent a room and you stay as long as you like singing as many songs as you want with your friends. No one else can hear you or see you. We were there for 3 hours signing and having a blast. We ended up not leaving till 6 in the morning. We got home about 20 mins later and all went to bed. Well soon after at least. I wasn't very tired.

I finally laid down an hour or so later and the next thing I know I was woken up by an earthquake. Not a bad one, the house just shook for 15 secs or so. It felt like there was a train going through the house. At first I didn't know what it was, but then it registered. I wanted to get up and stand in the door way just to see if what people told me about it not shaking as bad in the doorway was true, but I was too tired from my long night and just rolled over and went back to sleep. It was a level 3. Check out the information at: http://www.jma.go.jp/en/quake/21073000384.html

We were supposedly going to have a typhoon this week, I don't know exactly what they consider a typhoon but really I think it was more of a lot of rain off and on for a couple days. It hasn't even seemed that hard of a rain really. I guess I am just new to all of this weather! In a way it is kind of exciting. I mean I actually got to feel an earthquake. (I'm glad it was only a 3 - I can deal with not having any more too - but we just don't get very many earthquakes in Ohio.)

Glad to hear the earthquake and typhoon weren't too bad. Kim helped me get into the blog and load pictures from my camera to the computer so I could send you a new picture of Keeza (and Kim too). Keeza is really getting big and thinks the kittens are chew toys. What time do you start teaching in the morning? We got headphones so we can sign up for skype soon then we can talk in person hopefully. Love Mom
