Today, I was on campus and getting ready to leave but decided to go to the bathroom first. I walked into the bathroom and walked right back out. I know you are all thinking that must have been one nasty bathroom. Actually quite the opposite. The bathroom itself was actually quite clean. Spotless almost. The thing that scared me was the toilet itself. It wasn't old, it wasn't dirty, it was just different. I had heard stories about the type of toilet in the bathroom, but had never seen one. It was like a ditch in the ground, a urinal in the floor...I would have had to pull my pants down, squatted in a way to keep from peeing down my leg and still not let my pants fall in the toilet or fall in myself. So needless to say I just walked home and went to the bathroom when I got there. I will have to practice when I am wearing something a little easier to hold up. I definitely wore the wrong thing to try using a new kind of toilet. One day I will take my camera so you can all see what I am talking about. (I need new batteries first though.)
Yesterday I went to meet another person that is important on campus. I walked into his office and the first thing he did when I walked in was hand me a NUCIT hoodie. (NUCIT - Nihon University: College of Industrial Technology) I work at a smart people school. My one class is all Math Majors and the rest of them study biology, chemistry or other sciency/mathy subjects. I'm glad I only have to teach them English.
It is starting to get chilly here now. The highs this week are in the Mid 70s, but also in the low 60s. Plus it is still typhoon season - yet more rain is on the way. I can't believe starting tomorrow it will be October - Happy Birthday Kim. In about 10 days I should be able to go pick up my Alien Registration Card so I can finally start getting settled in more by opening a bank account and setting up a cell phone account and things like that.

Loved the toilet story, Leslie - brought back memories... You'll get used to it with practice (it definitely takes awhile!).
